We never tire of mentioning how instrumental our people are to our success, because it is so incredibly true. Everything we have achieved and continue to do at Intelligencia AI and in the industry is a result of our dedicated, intelligent, and motivated professionals, who identify areas of opportunity and tackle challenges every day with enthusiasm, creativity, and the dogged determination needed to raise the bar.
But our people are more than just senior developers, customer experience experts or machine learning gurus; they are exceptional, unique and interesting individuals we want you to get to know.
Throughout our “Day in the Life” blog series, we’ll introduce you to our global team and introduce you to the intelligence – our people – behind Intelligencia AI.
This profile is with our Director of Scientific Insights, Andreas Dimakakos. Andreas discovered Intelligencia AI through his own research. Connect with him on LinkedIn and read the Q&A below to learn more.
When did you start at Intelligencia AI? And how did you learn about the company and the role?
I started working at Intelligencia AI back in 2019. When I first saw the job posting for the scientific associate role, I knew very little about the company. At the time, it was a small startup with only 3-4 people and no significant presence in the industry. However, the role sounded interesting – it involved data curation work related to AI, which was a hot topic at the time. Even though I didn’t have much information about the company, I figured it was worth applying since the work seemed engaging.
What inspired you to say ‘yes’ to your first role at Intelligencia AI?
As I came to know the people at Intelligencia AI and learned more about the company’s potential, I became increasingly interested. What really drew me in was the startup culture – we had to wear many different hats and handle various responsibilities since there were so few of us. That collaborative, all-hands-on-deck environment was very appealing to me. The role and the company culture ended up being a great fit for me, and it has been my first and only professional placement since completing my PhD.
Could you share more about your role and responsibilities?
My role and responsibilities have evolved as the organization has grown, and my personal and professional interests have changed as well. As the Director of Scientific Insights, I leverage the deep knowledge I’ve gained about our data and data processes to analyze information, extract meaningful insights, and provide advanced technical solutions to our clients.
A significant part of my job involves collaborating with our commercial team to support key client accounts. I join calls as a technical expert, offering more specialized data-driven solutions beyond just our core product. My goal is to position Intelligencia AI as a true thought partner, not just a data vendor or solution provider.
I’m also heavily involved in our content creation efforts. Working closely with our marketing team, I help identify key topics and questions we want to address through blog posts, whitepapers, and other thought-leadership pieces. I manage the production process, ensuring high-quality content that’s packaged and delivered in an effective manner.
Additionally, I contribute to any cross-functional initiatives that require my expertise in data quality, data structure, or market knowledge. My role is dynamic and continually evolving to meet the business’s needs and those of our customer base.
What’s your favorite part of your role and working at Intelligencia AI?
My favorite aspect is the dynamic and ever-changing nature of the work. Even though the company has grown significantly over the years, we still have the perks of operating as a startup/scaleup. We’re always adapting to new challenges and opportunities in the market, which means I’m constantly learning and taking on new responsibilities.
There’s never a dull moment – there’s always some new challenge to solve or initiative to drive forward. The agility required to keep up with the pace of change is exhilarating to me. I love that I can’t ever get complacent or bored, because there’s always something new demanding my attention.
Which one of our core company values resonates with you the most?
The core company value that resonates most with me is “raise the bar”. The organization and our people foster an environment that encourages and supports me in continuously developing my skills and capabilities.
A notable example is when I expressed interest in pursuing an MBA program a few years ago. The company was incredibly supportive, allowing me the flexibility to attend classes and dedicating resources to help me succeed in that endeavor. They recognized that investing in my professional development would ultimately benefit the company as well.
More broadly, Intelligencia AI has always pushed me to exceed my own expectations and take on greater challenges. Whether it was transitioning from an individual contributor role to leading a growing team, or moving into a more strategic insights and advisory position, the company has consistently challenged me to raise the bar for myself.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell myself to try to enjoy the experience more and not get so caught up in the stress and pressure.
In those early years, there was considerable uncertainty that’s typical of a startup environment. I was so focused on helping the business navigate its typical growing pains that, at times, I didn’t always take the time to appreciate the incredible opportunity I had.
Looking back, I realize I should have tried to have more fun and truly soaked in the experience of working with such a smart and collaborative team. We were building something from the ground up, and that’s a rare privilege. I wish I had been able to step back and enjoy that journey a bit more, rather than constantly worrying about what may or may not happen next.
